Johannesburg: Pakistan wicket-keeper batsman Sarfraz Ahmed has said that he is determined to help his side reach new heights following his ascendency to the one-day and T20 vice-captaincy.

Sarfraz was appointed as the deputee of new skipper Azhar Ali on back of a strong World Cup performance, where the wicket-keeper batsman scored a crucial 49 runs and leveled the one-day world record of six catches behind the stumps against South Africa in Auckland.

Subsequently, Sarfraz smacked Pakistan's only World Cup hundred against Ireland to guide his side to the quarter-finals, before losing to eventual champions Australia.

Describing his appointment as vice-captain as a 'good opportunity' and an ' honour', Sarfraz said that skipper Azhar is a good friend and together they would take their team forward, Sport24 reported.

Pakistan's tour of Bangladesh will commence with the first of three ODIs on April 17 followed by a Twenty20 International on April 24 and a two-Test series beginning on April 28.
