Washington: Sales of Michael Jackson``s greatest hits compilation ‘Number Ones’ are still going strong, making the album the second biggest release of 2009.
Ever since his death on June 25, Jackson has ruled the US charts. But despite being ineligible for the mainstream Billboard countdown, his albums remain to be at the top in charts in America. His Number Ones album sold 114,000 copies last week, which is 15,000 more than rapper Fabolous, who debuts ‘Loso`s Way’ at the top of the Billboard 200. The hits compilation, which has dominated the Top Comprehensive Albums chart since the pop icon`s death, has now sold over 1.3 million units this year - almost 200,000 behind 2009`s bestseller, Taylor Swift`s ‘Fearless’. ‘Number Ones’ has been America`s best-selling album for five of the past six weeks, being topped only by rockers Daughtry`s impressive 269,000 debut of ‘Leave This Town’. Meanwhile, ‘Loso`s Way’ is Fabolous` first number one album, reports Contactmusic. Daughtry`s ‘Leave This Town’ holds firm at number two on the new countdown and Maxwell`s ‘BLACKsummers`night’ remains at number three. Last week`s US chart-topper, ‘Here We Go Again’ by Demi Lovato, has slipped to the eighth spot in the countdown. ANI
