Jaipur: A fine unbeaten 71 off just 42 balls by Harpreet Singh and a half-century by M Ali helped Madhya Pradesh prevail over Uttar Pradesh by five wickets in Syed Mushtaq Ali Central Zone Twenty20 league match here on Wednesday.
Batting first, Uttar Pradesh surged to 186 for three in 20 overs, but Madhya Pradesh romped home in 19 overs after losing only three wickets.
MP had lost three wickets for 19 runs and looked in dire straits but Harpreet came and his free strokes steadied the innings.
Harpreet hit eight fours and two sixes. Ali too excelled and raced to his fifty, facing 35 balls and hitting four fours and two sixes to pave way for MP’s victory.
Rameez Khan was unbeaten at seven when MP reached 188 for five in 19 overs.
Earlier, T Srivastav (84 off 59 balls, 10x4, 2x6) and Mohammad Kaif (68 off 48 balls, 8x4, 1x6) helped UP reach 186 for three in 20 overs.
