Margao: Rohit More and Suchit C scalped three wickets each to score a comfortable 45 runs win over Kerala to collect five points including one bonus point in the South Zone U-19 Vinu Mankad limited overs match, played at Nehru Stadium, here on Friday.
Electing to bat first after winning the toss, Karnataka defended their modest 206/8 score in the allotted 50 overs to beat Kerala by 45 runs after they bowled them for 161 in 43.3 overs.
Openers Sachindra K (31) and Samarth (43) gave a promising start putting on 49 runs before Sachindra K was caught by Ajay off the bowling of Sally Samson with the score at 77.
There was a dramatic middle order collapse as Karnataka lost six wickets for 90 runs before H Gopal who remained not out on 42 bailed them out along with Liyan Khan (25) sharing 52 runs for the seventh wicket to help them to reach a respectable total of 206/8.
Ahmed Fardin was the most successful bowler for Kerala who two wickets.
While Abhijit Mohan, Sally Samson, Vinu Monoharan, and Rahul Dev took one wicket each.
Kerala set a target of 207 to win found the going tough as they failed to counter Rohit More and Suchit C who bowled impressively to claim three wickets each as Kerala lost wickets regularly to be all out for 161 in 43.3 overs.
Karun Nair who supported them well at the other end took two wickets, while Abbas and S gopal claimed one wicket each.
Karnataka who won their third straight win with bonus points are leading the table with 15 points from three win, while Kerala who suffered their second defeat have three points from three matches.
