Kerala-JK match ends in a draw

Perinthalmanna (Ker): Resolute batting by Jammu and Kashmir`s captain Abid Nabi (30 not out) and Khajuria (30 not out), who had defied the Kerala bowlers for 49.4 overs helped their side to draw the four-day Ranji Trophy Plate league match, at the Perinthalmanna Cricket Stadium, on the last day on Saturday.

Resuming at the overnight score of 59 for 3, JK were reeling under pressure at 152 for 7, but Nabi found an able ally in Khajuria. Their partnership for the eighth wickets had realised invaluable 63 runs and at the end of the match JK were 215 for 7.

The duo thwarted Kerala captain Robert Fernandez `s all attempts to dislodge the partnership.

Fernandez used eight bowlers, but Nabi and Khajauria rose to the occasion and did not attempt any rash stroke and was content in defending.

Kerala earned three points for the draw, while JK collected one point. With this Kerala`s point tally has gone upto to 6 (two draws) while JK, who had opened their account has one point, but have lost their first match to Maharashtra.

Brief scores: JK 173 and 215/7 (Jeelani 46, A Nabi 30 not out, Khajuria 30 not out, Sreejith 2/41, S K Nair 2/15) Kerala: 393/9 (decl).
