Kerala medium pacers restrict Vidarbha to 134/7

Perinthalamanna: Brilliant bowling performance by Kerala medium pacers Sony Cheruvathur (3/43) and Prashant Parameswaran (3/22), helped their side to restrict Vidarbha 134 for 7 in their first innings in the Ranji Trophy Plate League match on the opening day at the Perinthalmanna Cricket Stadium here.

Ravi Jangid on 12 and Srikant Wagh on 12 were at the crease, when bad light stopped the play at 3.25 PM.

Batting first after winning the toss, Vidarbha were in real trouble after losing four wickets before the total reached 21.

Thanks to the fighting 67 runs fifth wicket partnership between opening batsman Akshay Kolhar 51 (145b, 5x4) and Himanshu Joshi 41 (81b, 5x4), which helped vidabhar to make a recovery.

But, when it seemed that the duo will take the side to safety, Kerala bowlers struck regularly, to put the pressure on the visitors, who were tottering at 134/7, when bad light stopped the play.

Kerala Captain Raiphy Vincent Gomez, who did not play in their previous match against Jammu and Kashmir, due to an ankle injury, is not playing and middle-order batsman Robert Fernandez was captaining the side.

Brief Scores: Vidarbha (first innings): 134 for in 61 overs (A Kolhar 51, H Joshi 41, Sony Cheruvathur 3/43, Prashant Parameswaran 3/22, S K Nair 1/11).
