Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s trusted aide, Amit Shah, has till now held the post of the vice-president of the GCA.
After becoming the Prime Minister, Narendra Modi had resigned as the president of Gujarat Cricket Association (GCA) on May 30. The GCA, which is one of the major cricket governing bodies in the country, had called for a special general body meeting in two weeks` time after Modi`s resignation.
Earlier this month, former GCA chief Narhari Amin had said that Amit Shah was touted as the top favourite to be the organisation`s next chief."Shah is the GCA`s senior most Vice President and he will be its next President" Amin, who controlled GCA for over a decade, had said.
In 2009, Modi, who was Gujarat chief minister then, was elected unopposed as GCA president.
