Pawar’s ton takes Mumbai to C K Naidu Trophy finals

Nashik: Riding on a century by Kaustub Pawar, Mumbai stormed into the finals of the under-22 Col C K Naidu Trophy as they chased a target of 351 runs set by Maharashtra with seven wickets to spare, here on Sunday.

Resuming at their overnight score at 37 for no loss, Mumbai scored 353 for three in 73.2 overs with Pawar top-scoring with a knock of 108.

He hit 15 fours and during his 208-ball stay at the crease.

Pawar was well-supported by Swapnil Salvi who made an attacking 79 of 88 balls, with the help of 11 fours and a six.

Sufiyan Shaikh too chipped in with a useful 56, while Suryakumar Yadav and Nikhil Patil remained unbeaten on 48 and 26 respectively to take the team home.

For Maharashtra Dhawal Hemnani captured two wickets, while Nasir Momin took one wicket, while conceding 79 runs each.
