Ranji Trophy: Shrivastava`s 187 takes Vidarbha to 457-6 against Karnataka

Nagpur: Skipper Shalabh Shrivastava led from the front with an unbeaten 187 as Vidarbha reached 457 for six in their first innings against Karnataka at stumps on the second day of the Ranji Trophy Group A match here on Friday.

Shrivastava blasted 21 boundaries in his unfinished 475-ball innings. He added 54 runs for the fifth wicket with Ranjit Paradkar and forged an unbeaten 88-run stand with SS Ruikar (48) for the seventh wicket. Resuming Vidarbha`s innings at 244 for two, Shrivastava and yesterday`s centurion Faiz Fazal could add just 22 more to their partnership as the opener was dismissed by H S Sharath in the 97th over. Fazal added just eight runs to his overnight score of 139. He had 22 fours in his 283-ball innings. Number 5 batsman RR Parida too could not stay longer as his innings was cut short after KP Appanna and CM Gautam combined to run him out in the 108th over as Vidarbha slipped to 289-4. Shrivastava and Paradkar then took Vidarbha across the 300 mark before the latter was also run out by AA Kazi. SB Wagh was next to go when he was caught by MK Pandey off HS Sharath in the 144th over. Shrivastava and Ruikar then ensured there were no more hiccups as they took Vidarbha across the 450-mark.
