Chennai: Hyderabad’s Ravi Teja’s unbeaten 149, Jafar Ali of Madhya Pradesh excelling with a century and Kerala leg-spinner claiming five wickets against Assam were the highlights of the Buchi Babu Cricket Memorial tournament here on Tuesday.
At close, Hyderabad were 265 for 4 in 65.5 overs in a rain affected match. Teja had faced 192 balls (16X4 and 3X6) for his 149 and had put on 123 runs for the unbroken second wicket against Punjab in Group-D.
In a Group B tie between Karnataka and Madhya Pradesh, Jafar Ali needed 223 balls (8X4 and 5X6) for his 100. He and Devendra Bundela (66) added 134 runs in 34 overs for the third wicket.
Leg spinner C Ramesh starred in Kerala restricting Assam to 223 for 9 in 78.5 overs. Ramesh, who bowled 18 overs during the day, bagged five wickets for 13 runs in his third spell of seven overs of which two were maidens.
