Sangram Adhitkar belts ton, Maha scores healthy 347/8

Kochi: Sangram Adhitkar’s splendid 109 and his 85-runs partnership with R H Motwani (42) helped Maharashtra to score 347/8 declared in their first innings on the penultimate day of the Ranji trophy Plate league match against Kerala here on Friday.

In reply, Kerala had made 5 runs without losing any wickets.

Earlier, the match got off to a delayed start due to the wet condition of the outfield at 2pm. Resuming at their overnight score of 217/4, Adhitkar, who as unbeaten on 59 with Motwani on 31, batted sensibly without going for any rash stroke.

When it seemed that the duo will take Maharshtra to a commanding position, medium pacer Sony Cheruvathur sent back Motwani caught and bowled for 42.

Adhitkar and S S Mundhe (45) added invaluable 59 runs for the seventh wicket to take Maharashtra to a healthy position.

DK Waghmare, chipped in with a breezy 24 including 3 hits to the fence.

Adhitakar’s knock had 11 well struck boundaries and had come from 238 deliveries.

Cheruvathur was the pick of Kerala bowlers claiming 4 for 99.
