Rajkot: Saurashtra began strongly making 107 runs for the loss of one wicket in reply to Railways first innings score of 415 on day two of the Group A Elite Division Ranji Trohy match here on Thursday.
Sagar Jogiyani 58 (118b, 12X4) and Sitanshu Kotak 34 (104b, 4X4) were at the crease when stumps were drawn for the day.
Saurashtra began shakily as opener Chirag Pathak (12) was caught by Sanjay Bangar off the bowling of young Anureet Singh with the score on 20.
But Kotak and Jogiyani ensured that there was no further damage by adding 87 runs for the second wicket.
Earlier, resuming at their overnight score of 233-4, Railways put on a competitive 415 thanks largely to a century by Sanjay Bangar and a useful 67 by wicketkeeper Mahesh Rawat.
Bangar, who was batting on 79 overnight, made a patient 104 in 262 bals with the help of 16 fours and one six.
Nilesh Chauhan (34) and M Suresh (28) also chipped in with useful contribution took railways to cross the 400-run mark.
For Saurashtra Jaydev Unadkat and Kamlesh Makwana were the successful bowlers taking four wickets each conceding 82 runs and 132 respectively.
