Chennai: Srikkanth Anirudha, S Badrinath and R Satish cracked half-centuries to propel Tamil Nadu to a commanding 300 for four in their first innings at the end of second day’s play in a Ranji Trophy Super League Group A match here today.
At draw of stumps of the second day, Tamil Nadu have taken a crucial first innings lead of 116 runs in reply to Assam’s 184 all out.
Opener Anirudha was batting at 87 and giving him company was Satish (74). Badrinath made a patient 83 before departing.
Srikkanth struck six boundaries and two sixes while Satish hit seven fours and a six during their unbeaten stay at the crease.
Resuming at the overnight score of 21 for no loss, Tamil Nadu lost opener Abhinav Mukund (22) in the ninth over when he went in for a big hit, only to be holed out to Assam captain Amol Mazumdar of off spinner Arlen Konwar but not before adding 52 runs for the first wicket with Anirudha.
Konwar then clean bowled K B Arun for 15 to see the hosts go into lunch at 128 for two.
Anirudha and Badrinath then added 135-runs for the fourth wicket before the latter fell lbw to Tarjinder Singh.
Tamil Nadu captain Dinesh Karthik (4) did not last long as he edged one to wicketkeeper Khanin Saika off Ranjit Mali.
