Tiwary ton propels Jharkhand to comfortable position

Jamshedpur: Indian ODI member Saurabh Tiwary slammed a century to propel hosts Jharkhand to a comfortable 342 for five in reply to Vidarbha`s first-innings score of 401, on the penultimate day of the four-day Col C K Nayadu under-22 match at Keenan Stadium here on Wednesday.

Resuming at overnight score of 70 for two, Jharkhand suffered an early jolt in the form of night watchman Kamal Gope (12).

Southpaw Tiwary, who stepped in at the dismissal of Gope, and Akash Verma then steadied the Jharkhand innings stiching together a 159-run stand before Verma edged a return catch.

However Tiwary, returning after turning up against Australia at Vishakapatnam in the ODI series, played a scintillating knock of 136 that included ten fours and a six.

At stump, Ajit Dwidi was batting on 26 while Keshav Kumar was on 10.

For Vidarbha, Sarwate claimed two wickets for 53 runs while Jungade and Mitra shared a wicket apiece.
