Vidarbha beat Rajasthan to qualify for knockout round

Jaipur: A fine innings of unbeaten 78 off 56 balls by Amit Paunikar helped Vidarbha register a 34-run victory over Rajasthan and book a berth in the knockout round of the Syed Mushtaq Ali Twenty20 cricket tournament.

Electing to bat first, Vidarbha reached a total of 169 for seven in their allotted 20 overs with Paunikar top-scoring with a fabulous 77 not out, while Ravi Jangid contributing with a valuable 36.

Chasing a stiff target of 170, Rajasthan fell short by 34 runs despite a good start as their middle and lower order surrendered tamely. Their innings came to halt at 135 for seven in their 20 overs.
