Donald poised to sign fresh contract with NZC

Wellington: Former South African speedster Allan Donald is poised to sign a fresh contract with New Zealand Cricket (NZC) after being ignored by Cricket Australia (CA).

Donald, who is set continue in his role of the Black Caps` bowling coach for another two years, was about to sign with NZC two weeks ago before he was approached by the Australian board.

However, he was pipped at the post by former Australian quick Craig McDermott.

According to reports Donald is in the final stages of confirming his move to New Zealand and is eager to join the the Black Caps at the earliest.

The 44-year-old has been in the limelight after he, along with head coach John Wright, helped a tottering New Zealand side to a series victory against Pakistan before pushing the side to the semi-final of the World Cup.

Donald is also said to have played a major role in the development of Kiwi paceman Tim Southee, who was the third-highest wicket taker at the quadrennial event.
