Doshi takes career best 8/53 as Saurashtra humble Karnataka

Chennai: Saurashtra spinner Nayan Doshi returned with career-best figures of 8 for 53 to guide his side to victory against Karnataka in the preliminary round match of the All India Buchi Babu Cricket tournament on Thursday.

Replying to Saurashtra`s 320 all out in 89.4 overs, Karnataka could manage only 178 all out in 68.1 overs.

For Karnataka, Sunil N Raju (44), K L Rahul (41) and K B Pawan (40) were the notable contributors.

In another league phase match, Mumbai spinner Harpreet Singh claimed 6 for 91 in his team`s nine-run win over Rajasthan.

Replying to Mumbai`s 340 all out, Rajasthan rode high on Aakash Chopra`s superb 113 (176b,16x4,3x6) but could muster 331 all out in 85.1 overs.

Chopra was involved in a 148-run stand with his captain Hrishikesh Kanitkar (68) for the second wicket.

In Group D match, Manpreet Juneja`s brilliant knock of 132 (215b,12x4,2x6) went in vain as Gujarat lost to Hyderabad. Replying to Hyderabad`s 316 for 7 in 90 overs, Gujarat made 289 all out in 87 overs.

In other matches, Kerala proved their dominance over Bengal thanks to an elegant unbeaten 106 (157b,13x4) by left handed Sachin Baby and his two worthy stands with Raiphi Vincent Gomes (25) for the fourth wicket and south paw K J Rajesh for the fifth wicket.

Kerala made 298 for 4 in 75.1 overs against Bengal`s 294 all out in 89.1 overs.
