England and Sri Lanka draw second Test

London: England and Sri Lanka drew the second Test at Lord`s here on Tuesday, a result that left England 1-0 up in this three-match series.

Sri Lanka were set an imposing target of 343 to win in 58 overs on Tuesday`s final day.

But the more pressing problem for the tourists was to avoid losing 10 wickets as happened in their innings and 14-run first Test defeat in Cardiff.

This they did, closing on 127 for three when a draw was agreed and that left Sri Lanka with a chance of squaring the series in the third Test starting at the Rose Bowl on June 16.
