Mumbai, July 04: Shiney Ahuja seems to be nowhere near an exit to his troubles, for the prosecution has taken a strong stand against the actor’s bail plea, stating that he might tamper with the evidence against him if he is released from jail. In its reply to Shiney’s bail plea, in which Ahuja had invoked his respectable family background, the Oshiwara police said, “Being a talented actor or acting in critically-acclaimed movies does not make rape accused actor Shiney Ahuja an honourable man. His family may be reputed. But it doesn`t reflect on his character,” stated the five-page reply in Marathi that was filed on Friday by the prosecution. The police also stated that the charge against Ahuja is too grave and since he is an influential and famous person, releasing him on bail will have a “negative impact on women”.Ahuja, in his plea, had argued that the rape allegation was a “conspiracy`” to extort money from him. He also said sexual intercourse with the maid was “consensual” and there was nothing amiss about the nail marks found on his body as such an “injury was possible during sex”. Shiney’s lawyers have sought time to reply to the police charges. The bail plea will now be taken up on July 7. Meanwhile, in a fresh statement, Girija Vyas, the chairperson of NCW said, “ Stringent action should be taken against Shiney as he has raped his maid.” "When we had talked to the girl in Mumbai, she had categorically stated that she was raped," Girija Vyas told reporters here. Asked about Shiney's statement that he had "consensual sex" with the maid, the NCW chief said: "Even the medical and the DNA reports proved that she was raped. But now I cannot say anything as the case is in court." An NCW team, including Vyas, had rushed to Mumbai and met all the parties concerned, including the victim and her family members. Following the visit, Mumbai Chief Minister Ashok Chavan had announced that the Shiney Ahuja rape case would be transferred to a fast track court soon.
