London: The current pace bowling attack of England is just as good as Australia’s all-conquering side, according to former pacer Jason Gillespie.
Gillespie, a crucial part of that famous Aussie attack, feels England bowling coach David Saker was ‘spot on’ when he compared the two sets of bowlers.
Gillespie, who took 259 Test wickets, coaches at Yorkshire and has worked with England hero Tim Bresnan up close, The Daily Mirror reports.
“That comparison is spot on. It is always difficult to compare eras, but the England bowling unit is absolutely fantastic and deserve the credit they are getting,” he said.
“What we have seen are pretty clinical performances from the England bowlers. The key is performing not just in your home conditions but all over the world and on different surfaces,” said Gillespie.
The former Australian pacer reserved special praise for spinner Graeme Swann, saying that his input can’t be underestimated.
