Birmingham: England will prepare for the second Test expecting recalled Pakistan batsman Mohammad Yousuf to play, captain Andrew Strauss said on Thursday.
Yousuf, Pakistan`s third-highest run-scorer in Tests, was scheduled to arrive in Birmingham at lunchtime with a chance of playing in the Test starting on Friday.
He was recalled on Sunday following Pakistan`s 354-run defeat in the first Test.
"We need to make sure we have got plans in place for him and we know how we are going to try and bowl against him," Strauss told reporters.
"It`s up to them to worry about whether he is in a position to play in a Test match or not."
"We know he is a dangerous player, he is a very good player, we saw far too much of him last time (in 2006), so if he is a bit jet-lagged hopefully we can get enough balls in the right area that will make it difficult for him."
Yousuf, who averages 53.07 in 88 Tests but averages 70 in 12 matches against England, was originally banned for a year by the Pakistan Cricket Board for his role in undermining team morale during their dismal tour of Australia in January.
