England vs Pakistan: Yasir Shah becomes No. 1 Test bowler after 10-wicket haul against Alastair Cook & Co

London: As a result of his brilliant spell against England in the first Test at Lord's cricket ground, Pakistani spinner Yasir Shah on Monday became the No. 1 bowler in Tests.

Yasir replaced England's James Anderson, who was ruled out of the match due to a shoulder injury, for the top spot.

Yasir has so far picked 86 wickets from 13 Tests and he is also aiming at breaking a 120-year old record - the fastest bowler to 100 Test wickets. Former English pacer George Lohmann currently holds the record after he completed 100 wickets in 16 Tests in 1896.

Ahead of the series, Yasir was ranked at the fourth position, but a 10-wicket haul against Alastair Cook & Co helped him seal the numero uno spot.

Yasir picked 6 for 72 in the first innings and 4 for 69 in the second, with which he also became the first leggie to claim a 10-wicket haul at the prestigious ground.

One of the highlights of his spell was a ball he bowled to Gary Ballance, which pitched outside the off-stump and went on to hit the leg-stump.
