New Delhi: If there is a special player in current modern day cricket who makes even tough situations look simple, it is Kumar Sangakkara. The Sri Lankan southpaw scored his 11th Test double ton in his career and is only one century behind former Australian legend Sir Don Bradman.

Sangakkara brought up the feat against New Zealand in the second Test match on Day 2 in Wellington on Sunday. Sri Lanka were reeling at 79/5 at stumps on the first day and Sangakkara who was batting on 33*, went on to play a special innings in overseas once again. Sangakkara's innings of 203 was studded with 18 fours and three sixes.

His innings helped Lanka post 356 in their first innings to gain a substantial lead over New Zealand.

The Black Caps posted a video on Twitter where the Basin crowd gave a standing ovation to the legendary left-hander.

Only on Saturday in the first day of the Test match, Sangakkara went onto score 12,000 runs in Test cricket becoming the fifth cricketer to do so. He had also become the fastest batsman in Test cricket to achieve the feat of 12,000 runs. Moreover he has a superior average on the all-time scoring list.

Sangakkara scored his 38th Test ton and it was the 19th time that he went past the 150-run mark in the longer format of the game.
