Chandigarh: It was Diwali time once again for the city, which gave the country Kapil Dev and Yuvraj Singh, as fans broke into wild celebrations after India`s epic win in the World Cup final over Sri Lanka in Mumbai on Saturday.
Crazy fans, who had anticipated an Indian win, burst crackers to lit up the sky.
Fans went wild as youngsters perched atop cars and rode on mobikes shouting slogans of `India, India`.
"It`s a proud moment for Chandigarh residents. First it was our very own Kapil Dev, under whose captaincy India won the World Cup in 1983, and now M S Dhoni has got the Cup back after nearly three decades," said Salil Khurana, a local resident.
It was also a proud moment for Yograj Singh, father of Yuvraj Singh, who along with skipper Dhoni, guided India to victory.
