New Delhi: A shoulder injury has put Kolkata Knight Riders and Indian ODI captain Gautam Gambhir’s availability for the IPL eliminator and the West Indies tour in jeopardy.
The injury is a result of KKR’s last match against Mumbai Indians at Eden Gardens where he displayed uneasiness while fielding.
An MRI scan on Tuesday revealed injury to his right shoulder. Though the exact nature of the injury is yet to be known.
His Team India opening partner Virender Sehwag is also recovering from a shoulder injury after a surgery conducted in London earlier this month.
The recovery may require surgery or plain rest.
In his absence vice-captain Suresh Raina will step into the role of captaincy. His absence will further desiccate the Indian batting line-up which is already missing the services of Sachin Tendulkar, Virender Sehwag and captain MS Dhoni.
