Gambhir to miss crucial Proteas tie due to illness
Gros Islet, St Lucia: Opener Gautam Gambhir will miss India’s crucial tie against South Africa in their second group C match of the ICC World Twenty20 here on Sunday due to illness.
India played their opener match of the T20 World Cup on Saturday against minnows Afghanistan which they won by 7 wickets.
Sunday’s tie against South Africa is a crucial match for India as a victory would ensure them a berth in the next stage, that is, the quarterfinals.
However, reports just a couple of hours before the important match claimed that Gambhir would skip the encounter as he was unwell.
Gambhir had been out of form lately as he could manage to score just 4-runs against a debutant team like Afghanistan.
