Ganguly to become Bangladesh’s batting coach?
New Delhi: After their lackluster performance in the recently concluded World Cup, Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) now wants to make a new beginning by appointing former India captain Sourav Ganguly as the national team’s batting coach.
BCB has already confirmed the news that they want to rope in Sourav as the team’s batting coach, though they are yet to make a formal offer to the former Bengal cricketer.
“We want Sourav`s assistance. He is hugely respected here and his skills and tactical nous will greatly help our batsmen,” BCB chairman Mohammed Jalal Yunus said on Tuesday.
BCB had earlier made similar attempts before their England tour. But Sourav turned down their offer citing personal reasons.
Sources close to Ganguly said that he won’t accept any full-time job as of now but he can work as a batting consultant.
Meanwhile, BCB has already short-listed a few names as replacement for former chief coach Jamie Siddons. It is learnt that former India all-rounder and current Mumbai Indians coach Robin Singh is also in the race for the job.
