New Delhi: Delhi's Ranji camp did not start on a positive note as tension surfaced on Friday with veteran batsman Gautam Gambhir leaving abruptly soon after the arrival of Ajay Jadeja.
Gambhir is expected to captain the state side for the upcoming season, while Jadeja was recently appointed as coach of the team.
According to a report in the Hindustan Times, Gambhir and the sports working committee are not in favor of Jadeja's appointment.
Decision to appoint the former India cricketer as coach was ratified by the executive committee.
However, Gambhir wants Vijay Dahiya as coach of the team as he feels the assistant coach of KKR knows the players well.
“There is barely a fortnight left for the Ranji season to begin and you have a coach who doesn’t even know his players,” an official told HT.
After Gambhir left, Jadeja had a discussion with selectors and briefly interacted with players.
