Durban: India suffered a huge blow ahead of the second Test against South Africa that kicks off in Durban on Sunday as swashbuckling opener Gautam Gambhir was ruled out due to a wrist injury.
Gambhir will be replaced by Murali Vijay in the playing eleven. The team management has also decided to give Cheteshwar Pujara a chance in place of Suresh Raina while Zaheer Khan, who is fully fit, will replace Jaydev Unadkat.
Gambhir sustained an injury in the knuckles of his left hand duing a practice session on Saturday.
The southpaw looked in utter discomfort during the first innings when South African pacers sorted him out with short-pitched stuff. However Gambhir showed a lot of grit scoring 80 in the second innings.
According to latest reports from Kingsmead, the match will begin half-hour late due to a wet outfield.
