Gauti blames KKR for injury cover up
New Delhi: Gambhir Gambhir’s injury scare would be the top priority when selectors meet on Friday to choose the team for the Test matches against the West Indies.
But Gambhir came out in his defence on Thursday stating that he "didn`t know" the exact nature or seriousness of the injury and blamed KKR management of not telling him the truth regarding his injury.
Gambhir added that the KKR physio, Andrew Leipus said to him that the medical report of his injury would be discussed after the match against Mumbai on Wednesday.
But the question remains why the physio, Andrew Lepius, who in his report advised 4-6 weeks rest for the shoulder injury, allowed Gambhir to play the IPL match?
Gautam Gambhir picked up the injury during an IPL match and he played the all important eliminator against Mumbai with that injury.
Clearly, Gambhir had blamed the Kolkata Knight Riders` management for not fully discussing about the injury.
He said, "I played with discomfort without realizing the gravity of my injury. As a leader my KKR team needed me but to say I preferred club over country is ridiculous. I know how hard I have worked for my India cap and what it means to me."
The letter that Kolkata Knight Riders physio Andrew Leipus wrote to BCCI regarding Gautam Gambhir`s shoulder injury also states that the player had used "corticosteroid injections" earlier.
