New Delhi: Former England captain on Thursday urged the International Cricket Council (ICC) to make cricket a truly global sport.
As per Vaughan, for the sport to appeal to more countries, emerging teams like Ireland need to be given more opportunities at the world stage.
He also suggested adding more teams and creating three divisions whereby teams would be relegated and promoted like in football leagues across the globe.
The 40-year-old felt the ICC should reach out the China and USA in order to globalise the game of cricket.
Vaughan expressed his opinion on micro-blogging site Twitter through his official account.
For Cricket 2 appeal 2 more Countries World Wide it's so important teams like @Irelandcricket are given more opportunities from the @ICC

Vaughan is right in his assessment of Ireland as the tiny nation staged yet anothe upset by beating West Indies in their first game of this World Cup.
Their previous triumphs at ICC's pinnacle event include beating Pakistan in 2007 and England in 2011.
Indian spinner Ravichandran Ashwin felt the ICC was doing a good job as right things were happening to the game of cricket, especially with respect to the new teams playing at the 2015 ICC World Cup.
It's been great pleasure watching the new teams play in this World Cup.Right things are happening for sure.@ICC @niallnobiobrien
