Global players` body seek investigation into `India-fueled May removal` claims

London: The international players` association has reportedly urged the International Cricket Council (ICC) to investigate into claims that the powerful Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) had pressurized the ICC to have Australian Tim May dumped from its influential cricket committee.

The Federation of International Cricketers` Associations (FICA) want the matter referred to the ICC`s ethics officer because they are adamant that captains were pressurized by their boards to change their vote from former FICA head May to Indian Laxman Sivaramakrishnan.

According to the report, FICA decided to refer to the matter themselves as they believe that the matters are `concerning and disappointing`, adding that this is merely an attempt from their side to deflect attention from the real point, for which they have issued a statement of unity signed by all players from six countries, except India.

However, angered at the move, the ICC said that FICA was being misleading and that they had breached trust.

The report further said that if votes were changed it was probably at the behest of India politely asking other boards, adding that if the ICC have nothing to worry about then they will not mind the matter being examined by their ethics officer.
