Goa House congratulates Sachin on 100th ton

Panaji: The Goa State Legislative Assembly on Tuesday congratulated senior India batsman Sachin Tendulkar for his 100th international ton against Bangladesh in the Asia Cup.

"Looking at the style of his batting, we wonder whether cricket is an art or a technique for him," Chief Minister Manohar Parrikar said moving the motion.

Parrikar termed him as an artist in the field of cricket.

"I met him during India-Australia match in Goa. I was moved by his simpleton behaviour," the CM recalled.

"Despite being such a legendary batsman, he is not vain which is something to be most appreciated about," Parrikar said. Leader of Opposition Pratapsingh Rane said that Tendulkar has mastered the art of Cricket.

"Don Bradman created records in the cricket world and Tendulkar went on breaking them," he said. Congress legislator, Mauvin Godinho, said that Tendulkar has a strong Goa connection.

"When Sachin was scoring the century, his entire family was celebrating in a restaurant in Goa," Godinho said adding that Tendulkar is a shining example of simple personality, who has no ego about his achievements.

Other members including public works department minister Ramakrishna Dhavalikar, and Independent legislator Vijay Sardessai also spoke on the motion.
