Karachi: Pakistan`s most successful all-rounder in recent times, Muhammad Hafeez will undergo a surgery to remove a cyst on his chest, which forced him to skip the ongoing National T20 Championship, currently underway here.
Hafeez, who won four Man-of-the-Match awards and scored two centuries in the clean sweep over Zimbabwe recently, was not part of the Misbah-ul-Haq-led Faisalabad Wolves team that played at the National Stadium on Wednesday.
"Hafeez has a cyst on his chest and it requires minor surgery. Since the commitments of the national team are tight for the next few months he has decided to have the surgery now," a board spokesman said.
Hafeez has been one of Pakistan`s most improved players in recent times with both bat and ball, and Misbah said they would miss his services in the national event.
"But it is good he is having the surgery now because it is far more important that he is available for the national team for next month`s series against Sri Lanka," he added.
