Chandigarh: The Haryana police have busted a betting syndicate and arrested nine persons in this connection from a hotel in Hisar.
During the raid the police recovered Rs 60,410 in cash, 19 mobile phones of different makes, one LCD, one laptop, multipurpose charger, three sets of playing cards and one calculator from the accused, including the hotel manager, as they were allegedly betting on the last ODI cricket match played between India and England.
Police had got information that betting was going on in a hotel at Hisar while the match was being played.
A police team raided the hotel and arrested nine persons, a spokesman of the Police Department said on Sunday.
During interrogation, they revealed that they had contacts with the cricket bookies in Delhi, Chandigarh and Jaipur.
