Hashim Amla throws `hat in ring` for next Proteas Test captain selection

South Africa batsman Hashim Amla has reportedly made himself available to be considered for the national squad`s next Test captaincy.

Johannesburg: South Africa batsman Hashim Amla has reportedly made himself available to be considered for the national squad`s next Test captaincy.
Cricket South Africa (CSA) is currently looking for a successor to Graeme Smith, who retired from international cricket earlier this year, and Amla has offered his interest in the role despite stating earlier that he is not available for the captaincy post. According to Sport24, with Amla changing his mind and offering himself to be considered for South Africa`s Test captaincy, the number of candidates to be considered for the role have risen to four now. CSA will name the new Test captain for South Africa early next month as AB de Villiers appears to be the favourite, while Faf du Plessis and JP Duminy are also speculated to be in the running, the report added.
