Madurai: The Madras High Court on Tuesday ordered issue of a second notice to Indian cricket board chief N Srinivasan and Bollywood stars Amitabh Bachchan, Salman Khan and Kareena Kapoor on a petition regarding alleged "uncensored and indecent" dance programmes during the IPL-V inaugural show in Chennai in April.
Justice Kirubakaran of the bench here also ordered notice to Indian Premier League chairman Rajeev Shukla, Bollywood actress Priyanka Chopra, American pop star Katy Perry, Australian cricketer and Chennai Super Kings member Douglas Bolinger and a Sony Set Max TV official. Petitioner K Jebakumar, an advocate, alleged that the entire IPL inaugural show, held at the YMCA grounds in Chennai on April 3 was "uncensored, denigrating men and women, obscene and lascivious" and was also telecast all over the world. Jebakumar submitted that the celebrities and dignitaries had committed offences under various IPC sections and also acts such as Indecent Representation of Women (Prohibition) Act, Young Persons Harmful Publications Act, and Foreigners Act. The petitioner had already approached the high court seeking a direction to DGP and IGPs of Central and South zone, to investigate and register a complaint. But so far no action had been taken, it was submitted. The court had earlier ordered issue of notice on July 18. PTI
