Centurion Tillakaratne Dilshan bowled the last over of the third day as Australia ended on 27/0 after bowling out Sri Lanka for 336 on Sunday. Mathews and Dilshan added 161 runs for the fifth wicket to guide their side out of trouble. Dilshan slammed his 15th Test ton while Mathews scored a fifty. Peter Siddle took 5/54 for Australia. Australia have a lead of 141 runs and still have all their wickets intact.

Australia have begun their second essay in this first Test at Hobart. Ed Cowan and David Warner have hit a boundary each so far. Spin in Dilshan and pace in Eranga currently in operation for Lanka.

Australia wasted no time in wrapping up the Sri Lankan innings after removing set batsman Dilshan and Mathews. After Dilshan departed for 147, the Lankan team could add just 46 to their total while losing four wickets. Peter Siddle returned with a fiver while Nathan Lyon took 2/76. There was a light drizzle after the visitors were bowled out but it stopped as Oz pair of Ed Cowan and David Warner walked to the middle.

Australia have removed Dilshan and Jayawardene. Dilshan was yorked by Mitchell Starc at the score of 147 while Jayawardene was adjudged lbw after scoring 40. Rangana Herath is the new man in the middle.

Sri Lanka have struck four boundaries in the last two overs—two each by Prasanna Jayawardene and Tillakaratne Dilshan. Angelo Mathews was the fifth wicket to fall as he was trapped by Siddle in front at the score of 75. Meanwhile, Dilshan is still going strong and is nearing 150.

After Australia pushed Sri Lanka on backfoot on the second day picking four wickets by the close of play, Tillakaratne Dilshan and Angelo Mathews guided them out of trouble building a century stand for the fifth wicket between them. Dilshan reached his 15th Test century with a boundary off Peter Siddle. His partner Angelo Mathews also completed a fifty to stave off the Australian bowlers. Dilshan has 18 hits to the fence while his Mathews has eight boundaries to his name.
