New Delhi: Soon after New Zealand cricket legend Daniel Vettori announced his retirement from international cricket on Tuesday, tributes and good wishes poured in from the cricket fraternity.
Vettori has long been one of the most respected cricketers in the world and it is no surprise to see such a genuine outpour of emotion from players who have played with and against him.
The left-arm spinner was a key component in New Zealand's inspiring run to the World Cup finals.
Though the 36-year-old could not end his career on a high with a win in the final against Australia, his performance during the tournament was appreciated by all.
Here is an account of what the cricket world, from Sri Lanka's Kumar Sangakkara to Australia's Adam Gilchrist, had to say post Vettori's retirement announcement.
#ThanksDaniel great pleasure playing with you mate. Flem, you and Brendon have done so much to develop NZ cricket. You must be very proud
