Mumbai: JP Dutta broke some hearts unceremoniously, and the news is that two among those left forlorn were santoor maestro Amjad Ali Khan’s sons Ayaan Ali Bangash and Amaan Ali Bangash.Other actors who faced the same fate were Tapur and Tupur Chatterjee, Sudhanshu Pandey, Karanvir, Sangeeta Ghosh and Sagarika Ghatge.
The aspiring actors had signed an exclusive contract with JP Dutta which barred them from accepting another assignment during the course of this film. It turned out to be a futile wait, as Dutta’s project has now run into financial issues with the film’s financier Reliance Big Motion Pictures and the film has been shelved.
A source told a news daily, “JP has been planning the film for a long time. They had finished shooting three schedules in Udaipur, Jaipur and some parts of Europe. The film has been in the works for a year, and is still far from complete. Now, there are financial issues between Reliance and JP Dutta and the film has been put on hold indefinitely. The actors were informed about this development last week. Most of them had left everything to work on Dutta’s film.”
An actor, on condition of anonymity said, “The man made us wait for an entire year and now his office calls us and tells us that the film is stuck. Imagine an entire year without work; our professional lives were on hold. We were relying on this film, as working with someone as senior as JP saab would make our careers. We haven’t been paid and were willing to work for peanuts. We don’t know now which way to go.”
An actress from the film added, “We all have our liabilities in life. We were told that we have to sign these contracts as that’s how the industry works. I have moved on and I am doing my own stuff. With all due respect to him, I can’t wait endlessly. I would only like to say that the way we have been treated is very unprofessional.”
Some of them don’t even know that the film has been shelved. Sudhanshu Pandey said, “I am not aware of this development. The best person to talk to is Mr JP Dutta.” Sagaraika Ghatge said the same, “I am too busy with my film ‘Fox’ and I am not aware of any developments on this film.” Tapur Chatterjee added, “I have heard that the film has been stuck due to some financial issues with Reliance because of the recession, but I have no further clue.”
Others have accepted the situation and already moved on. Amaan Ali Bangash said, “We were made to sign a contract and we had to inform JP Sir before taking up another assignment. It was my personal choice to do the film and JP Sir is a big director. I still hope that the film will start again.”
JP Dutta remained unavailable for comment, while a spokesperson from Reliance Big Motion Pictures refused to comment.
A shocking beginning for the Ali brothers, it seems!
