Review: ‘Let`s Dance’ is a yawn beyond Gayatri's exuberant moves

Debutante Gayatri Patel’s ‘Let’s Dance’, which released all over this Friday, is nothing more than a boring attempt to showcase an actor’s dancing skills. Though the film’s story seems to be on the lines of Ram Gopal Varma’s blockbuster ‘Rangeela’, and Yash Raj Films’ Madhuri starrer ‘Aaja Nachle’, but it doesn’t seem to be taking into account any other aspect but Gayatri’s dance moves.

Mumbai, June 19: Debutante Gayatri Patel’s ‘Let’s Dance’, which released all over this Friday, is nothing more than a boring attempt to showcase an actor’s dancing skills. Though the film’s story seems to be on the lines of Ram Gopal Varma’s ‘Rangeela’, and Yash Raj Films’ ‘Aaja Nachle’, but it doesn’t seem to be taking into account any other aspect but Gayatri’s dance moves. Not that the dance moves don’t appeal at all, as Gayatri dances exceptionally well. But in this attempt, rest of the things, including the plotline and her love story, take a backseat. Directed by Aarif Sheikh, ‘Let`s Dance’ is about a girl who is a dancer, and runs her own dance school. She comes in contact with a bunch of street kids and begins a journey she truly believes in. Talking about Gayatri`s acting skills can be a complete waste of time. Other actors including Aqib Afzal and Ajay Choudhry outdo each other with some terrible performances. Aarif Sheikh’s direction seems almost non-existent. And surprisingly, he has previously edited movies like ‘Maqbool’ and ‘Parzania’. The only actor, who manages to floor you with his innocence, is child actor Nikunj Pandey, whose small role is apparently the most genuine. Overall, ‘Let`s Dance’ is a complete dud! One cheer for this one.
