Indian bowlers have been criticised of giving away too many runs in the death overs. But today was a different day as they managed to stick to their line and length and went for just 34 runs in the last five overs. Pakistan looked in a hurry from the word go and had it not been for that 50-run partnership between Umar Akmal and Shoaib Malik, Pakistan would have found themselves in a precarious position.

The third had width on offer on the leg side and Akmal smashed that for a boundary towards deep sqaure leg. Ashwin ended the over with two dot balls. Four from the first over.
UPDATE: MS Dhoni has won the toss and he has decided to bowl first.
Pakistan would have an edge over India after their success over the MS Dhoni-led side in the recently concluded Asia Cup. In a thriller, Shahid Afridi slammed two consecutive sixes in the last over, which proved to be decisive. But even though Pakistan managed to defeat India in Asia Cup, their winless streak over the Men in Blue in a World Cup, is something which cannot be ignored. The role of Mohammad Hafeez and Afridi will once again be significant, considering their all-round abilities which strengthens Pakistan`s playing eleven. Pakistan have a formidable bowling line-up with players like Umar Gul and Saeed Ajmal having enough experience of playing against India.
India on the other hand, haven`t been high on confidence after their poor show in two overseas tours, and they have an excellent opportunity ahead of them to get back into momentum. One of the major concerns for MS Dhoni would be the combination of openers. In the warm up games, even though Rohit Sharma and Shikhar Dhawan opened the innings for India, many believe Ajinkya Rahane – who opens for Rajasthan Royals in the IPL – should bat at the top of the order, with Dhawan. Indian team has a formidable batting line-up with players like Kohli, Yuvraj and Suresh Raina having done well in the warm up games. MS Dhoni has been under the scanner for his leadership skills of late, and a lot would depend on his individual contribution as well. In the bowling department, Mohammed Shami will spearhead the pace attack, while Ashwin will have to live upto the faith which Dhoni has shown in him. It would be interesting to see if India play Amit Mishra as well, considering the leg-spinner`s form in the last few matches.
