The 29-year-old sat out of their opening fixture against Sri Lanka with a hamstring injury. They lost the match by five runs. So, taking on a confident New Zealand side without their regular skipper will be a big ask for the South Africans, if at all du Plessis fails his fitness test. It`s a must win match for the Proteas. A second successive defeat in the tournament will only meant an early exit, yet another failure in the world cups. A bane! In contrast, the Brendon Mc Cullum led-side, after the win over a highly-inspired English team -- thanks to some rain and Duckworth–Lewis method, will go for a kill to strengthen their chances of qualifying for the semi-finals. Their cause is also being served beautifully by the emergence of Corey Anderson and hosts of other youngsters.
