Kumar Sangakkara thanks fans, family after maiden World T20 title triumph

New Delhi: As Sri Lanka defeated India to lift their maiden World T20 title, veteran cricketer Kumar Sangakkara thanked all the fans, family and friends for their continuous support.
The wicketkeeper batsman expressed his views on social micro-blogging site Twitter through his personal account.

Sangakkara, who had struggled with the willow throughout the series, had saved his best for the final match, where he played a match-winning knock of 52 runs from 35 balls. Sangakkara remained unbeaten when Thisara Perera hit the winning runs, and was also adjudged the Man of the Match for his stupendous knock.
Notably, it was the last T20 international appearance for Sanga and Mahela Jayawardene, who had announced retirement from the shortest format of the game post the ICC World T20.
