Queensland: Australia defeated Bangladesh by five wickets to qualify for the semi-finals of the 2012 ICC U-19 World Cup here. Called into bat by the hosts, Bangladesh got off to a decent start as the first wicket pair of Liton Das and Soumya Sarkar added 64. However, barring Sarkar who top scored with 73 (80b, 4X6, 6X3) none of their batsman could make a significant contribution as they were bundled out for 171 in 43 overs. Part-timer Travis Read took three wickets while Joel Paris and Ashton Turner took two wickets each. Chasing 172, Australia were off to a shaky start losing three quick wickets in the first five overs. It was captain William Bosisto who rescued them with a knock of 71 not out that ensured that they reached the target with 25 deliveries remaining. Brief Scores: Australia 172/5 (Bosisto 71*, Ahmed 2/31) defeated Bangladesh 171/10 (Sarkar 73, Head 3/30)
