Townsville: England Under-19s squad defeated Ireland Under-19s by seven wickets with 82 balls remaining chasing down a target of 110 with relative ease in the group A fixture played at Endeavour Park, Townsville.
Put into bat by England captain Alex Davies, Ireland had a terrible start with their two three failing to reach double figure mark. Ireland captain George Dockrell (26) and Tyrone Kane (28) got some runs for the Irish before Andy McBrine (16) had tried to stay on the wicket.
Reece Topley picked up three wickets for England.
In reply, after the early stutter Ben Foakes (32) and Craig Overton (26*) and later Aneesh Kapil (31*) chased down the target in 36.2 overs.
