New Delhi: Grant Elliott played a brilliant innings after making an unbeaten 84 runs to help New Zealand beat South Africa in an enthralling semi-final encounter of the ongoing ICC Cricket World Cup 2015 at Eden Park in Auckland on Tuesday.

New Zealand required 12 runs of the last over and Elliott smashed a six off Dale Steyn in the second last ball to see the Black Caps register a maiden World Cup final and crush hopes of the Proteas. New Zealand needed 298 runs for victory in 43 overs after Duckworth–Lewis method was introduced and overcame a spirited Proteas by four wickets.

This was South Africa's fourth loss in a semi-final of the World Cup.

Grant Elliott was adjudged the man-of-the-match award.
