New Delhi: AB de Villiers showed why he is the best batsman in modern day cricket after plundering timid West Indies with a breathtaking 162-run knock off just 66 balls. The South African skipper ensured his side register a mammoth 257-run victory over the Islanders in a Pool B encounter on Friday in the ongoing ICC 2015 Cricket World Cup.
De Villiers smashed 17 fours and 8 sixes to register the second fastest World Cup century in the history of the game. He also recorded the fastest 150 runs in ODIs after getting the score in just 64 balls.
His innings helped the Proteas post a total of 404 which in the end did the Windies in. De Villiers' whirlwind knock saw South Africa hit their opponent for 78 runs in the last three overs of their innings.
De Villiers' love affair with West Indies continued as earlier he had registered the fastest ODI century in the month of January this year against the same team. This was his 20th century in ODI cricket.
The South African sensation owns records of fastest 50, 100 and 150 in the 50-over format to mark his authority in the international scenario.
Several members of the cricket fraternity took to social micro-blogging site, Twitter to laud AB de Villiers for his ferocious ton.
