ICC World Cup: Reactions to Pakistan's thrilling win against South Africa

New Delhi: Pakistan got themselves back in contention for a place in the quarter-finals and notched up a big win against South Africa in the ongoing ICC Cricket World Cup. The Pool B encounter held at at the Eden Park in Auckland saw a clash of 'greens' and finally the lighter outfit coloured team rode on a fine bowling performance to get past the line.

Pakistan were bundled out for a paltry 222 in 46.4 overs after the match was interrupted by rain twice. The revised target for South Africa under the Duckworth–Lewis method was 232. South Africa in reply made 202 runs in 33.3 overs.

Pakistani fans were ecstatic and so were the team that got off from a bad start to the tournament with three wins in succession. The Asian giants were threatened by Proteas skipper AB de Villiers who struck a majestic 77 and almost won the game for his side.

Pakistan are third in the table and are tied on points with South Africa at six points each but are below them on net run-rate.

The cricket fraternity and other famous personalities reacted with cheers for the Misbah-ul-Haq led team and they expressed their views on social micro-blogging site, Twitter.

South Africa face UAE on March 12. Pakistan take on Ireland in their final match of the Group stage on March 14th.
