After WT20 semi-final face-off, Chris Gayle hails Virat Kohli as 'true champion and a legend'

New Delhi: Chris Gayle on Friday hailed Virat Kohli as a "true champion and a legend" of the game. The West Indies opener's comments came a day after the Caribbean team defeated India in the second semi-final of the 2016 ICC World Twenty20 in Mumbai on Thursday.

After the match, which was settled on the last over bowled by Kohli, the Indian team congratulated the victors on their way to the final. Besides, India and West Indies cricketers are known for their mutual respect and camaraderie. Gayle himself has taken India as his second home, and Bangalore his home ground.

Gayle shared a photo, with caption reading, “True Champion and a Legend. Looking forward to sharing dressing room with my RCB cappo.”

Kohli, who shares dressing room with Gayle, in the Royal Challengers camp of Indian Premier League (IPL) scored an unbeaten 83 off 47 balls with 11 fours and one six to help India post a a total of 192 runs at Wankhede stadium.

The ninth edition of cash-rich franchise-based T20 cricket tournament is start to start on scheduled to start on April 9, soon after Sunday's WT20 final at Eden Gardens.

But the total proved too little for a vibrant West Indian side. Even after losing Gayle early, they cantered to a seven-wicket win with two balls to spare.

Earlier, West Indies all-rounder Dwayne Bravo shared a photo taken with Mahendra Singh Dhoni, calling the Indian captain his champion.

Bravo posted the image with a caption, "Win, lose or draw ...always #macha #champion #respect”

Both Dhoni and Bravo shared good times as team-mates in the now suspended Chennai Super Kings camp.
